“I am He that liveth, and was dead;
I am alive for even more”
– Rev. 1:18
I wish you and your families a blessed Easter!
I recently heard a celebrity tell that Easter was very important in her home. She bragged about one of her Easter traditions where she invites children for an Easter egg hunt and gives them gifts. At the end of the celebration, each child is encouraged to exchange his/her gifts with another child who likes it too. The purpose behind this exercise is to teach them a lesion in sharing. She appeared to be very passionate and her effort is very noble and praiseworthy, yet without any mention of the resurrection of Christ, this is an empty celebration.
She is not alone as there as scores of people for whom Easter has become just empty celebration without any understanding or belief in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jesus resurrection is fundamental to our faith. The Bible tells us, “And if He has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” (1 Corinthians 15:17). His disciples and friends found the reality of Jesus’ resurrection a difficult yet undeniable concept. Even His foes were unsuccessful in their attempts to discredit this historic event. The believers ‘who met the risen Lord personally become powerful witnesses to persuade others to become followers of risen Christ.
As recorded in the Holy Bible, the Apostles’ Creed and other literature, Jesus stands alone as the only person that ever rose from the dead to the sit at the right hand of God the Father to intercede on our behalf. Even though Christ saved us from the bondage of sin through His death, His resurrection gives us the promise of new life in both this world and the next. Christ’s resurrection is the proof of His divinity.
In today’s environment of uncertainty and hopelessness, it is our faith that gives us hope and peace. We have a Savior who is alive today! Let us affirm our faith in the Risen Lord and make a fresh commitment to Him.
I am Thankful to Asher, Sana and their mom for providing Good Friday meal and Dr. & Mrs. Edwards, Angie and Reuben for donating $1100 for Easter dinner. Come and join us for worship and fellowship.
